We welcome people to come to our programs even if they did not make a reservation. We know people have changes to their schedules and may have to miss a meeting for which they signed up. We will observe the following time-line for meetings:

Official start of the meeting - Your name tag will be printed. We will have as many name tags as we have seats. Come get your name tag when you arrive.

Fifteen minutes after the official start time - Open seating begins. If you are present and seats are available, they will be given out. A reservation not used by that time becomes an open seat.

If you have comments or suggestions, please e-mail the Program Committee Chair.

Demographics: The approaching major turning point in the history of the human race.

Conventional demographics hold that the world's population will hit 10 billion by 2100 and then stabilize.

Others say world population will stabilize around 2050 and at a much lower levels. From a replacement birthrate perspective, the population may stabilize by early in the next decade. But population growth might continue until 2050, driven by the increased longevity. Under this scenario, population growth would result from increased health and longevity and not from reproduction and fertility.

Each scenario has important implications for world economic growth and country economic growth for the remainder of this century. Demographics and population dynamics have come to the forefront in recent years as companies and policy makers analyze the shifting economic and power implications of rapidly aging but increasingly physically healthy societies.

Most aging societies will respond by extending the age of retirement to 70 or 75.  And many of us will be both healthy and working at the age of seventy.

Join us on Wednesday, May 30th at noon at The Buckhead Club as our speaker, Dick Hokenson, ISI Group's Managing Director of Global Demographics, discusses demographics.

At ISI Group, he is responsible for analysis and forecasting of global demographic trends and their associated economic and investment implications.

Prior to joining ISI, he had founded Hokenson & Company as an independent consulting company in May 2002. Before that, Mr. Hokenson was the Director of the Global Demographics Project at Credit Suisse First Boston. Prior to joining CSFB in the November 2000 merger, Mr. Hokenson was the Chief Economist at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette where, since 1978, he pioneered the application of demographics to economic and financial market forecasting.
