James P. Cate is the Managing Principal and Founder of Glenfield Capital.  His career includes both advisory and principal roles for 20 years. Since 1991, James has advised on and been involved in over $1.2 billion in real estate transactions including commercial and residential product and debt.  Glenfield Capital has engaged in acquiring distressed assets since the 2008 crisis with multiple acquisitions of debt and owned real estate.

Prior to founding Glenfield Capital, James was the managing principal for the Southeastern Region of New York based Newmark Capital Group.  In that capacity, James managed large scale investment and financing transactions on behalf of institutions, private equity firms, developers and off-shore investors.  Specific clients have included SwissRe, Manulife Insurance, Veritas Capital, Platinum Equity Holdings and GMAC Insurance.

James' career has been defined by many significant achievements with numerous accolades in the 1990's including receiving multiple top producer awards at both the local and national level. 

James is a graduate of Georgia State University and is now a frequent guest lecturer at the nationally ranked Robinson School of Business.  James is a highly sought after speaker for industry events and conferences and has been quoted in BusinessWeek, National Real Estate Investor Magazine, Real Estate Forum, Commercial Property News, Georgia Trend and the Atlanta Business Chronicle.  James has also been honored as a featured panelist at The Commercial Property News Conference held in New York, the Seyfarth Shaw Real Estate Forum, the FIG Partners Bank CEO Forum and the McKenna Long & Aldridge Distressed Debt Seminar.
